A preschool located two blocks south of Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks is set to give way to a new small lot subdivision, per a recent application to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.
The project from South Oaks Villas, an entity affiliated with Done-Rite Construction, Inc., calls for clearing an existing two-story building to make way for the construction of eight single-family homes - each with space for an accessory dwelling unit.
Santa Monica-based Bica Architects is designing the project, which is shown in plans as a collection of contemporary four-story structures with roof decks. Plans show three bedrooms and two car garages in each home.
The proposed project would take advantage of the provisions of SB 684, a state bill which streamlines the approvals of townhome projects.
One block to the east of the project site, plans were recently announced for a 75-unit affordable housing complex along Dickens Street.
