One year after breaking ground in Willowbrook, LINC Housing has reached the sixth and final floor at its Springhaven development.

Located at the southwest corner of Wilmington Avenue and 118th Street, the project replaces a parking lot adjacent to the MLK Medical Center campus with 100 apartments.  The mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom dwellings will be reserved for formerly homeless individuals and families, as well as families earning 60 percent or less than the area median income.

D33 Design & Planning, which frequently works with LINC Housing, is designing the contemporary podium-type building.  Plans call for a variety of amenities, including an exercise room, a garden, and a computer lab.

The $52-million development was expected to open in late 2020 at the time of its groundbreaking ceremony.

A staff report to the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee indicates that apartments will offer rents as low as $545 per month for a one-bedroom unit and as high as $1,512 for a three-bedroom apartment.

The project site is located directly across 118th Street from The Gateway, a similar affordable housing complex built by Thomas Safran & Associates, and just west of Metro's Willowbrook/Rosa Parks Station.
