Metro's legal fight with the City of Burbank over dedicated lanes for the North Hollywood - Pasadena bus rapid transit line continues to play out in court. But the two factions have forged an agreement to at least allow some work to proceed.

"As part of an interim agreement in the litigation, Metro will be able to proceed with undisputed project improvements in Burbank, including bus station, roadway and sidewalk, ADA-related pedestrian, street lighting, traffic signal, and landscaping upgrades," announced Burbank this week.

However, the City will not approve permits for any improvements specifically required for the implementation of dedicated bus lanes on Olive Avenue between Buena Vista and Lake Streets, where the City prefers mixed-flow operations. That will at least allow the bus rapid transit line to operate along the corridor, even while the fight over the proposed bus lanes continues to play out.

Completion of the bus rapid transit line is expected in 2027.
