Just over one year after breaking ground the Vermont Square neighborhood, a new supportive housing complex from RMG Housing is starting to take shape.
The project, which occupies a city-owned property at the northwest corner of 52nd and Figueroa Streets, consists of a four-story edifice which will feature 40 residential units at completion. The project will also offer on-site case managers to connect residents with supportive services and resources.
City records list Torrance-based Breen Engineering as designer of 5215 Figueroa, which is depicted in a rendering as a contemporary low-rise structure.
RMG Housing is financing the project in part through a $7-million loan from SDS Capital Group's SDS Supportive Housing Fund, which is tailored for permanent supportive housing projects.
Plans 5215 Figueroa, as well as a neighboring property at 5260 Figueroa, date to a July 2020 vote by the Los Angeles City Council to develop both sites with permanent supportive housing.
In addition to 5215 Figueroa, RMG Housing is also developing multiple supportive housing projects across South Los Angeles.
