Just east of the notorious "asterisk" in Mid-Wilshire, the steel skeleton of a new surgery center is largely complete.

DOCS Surgical Hospital, which broke ground in late 2023 at 6000 S. San Vicente Boulevard, consist of a five-story building which will feature four operating theaters and an imaging center. Plans also call for medical offices, a pharmacy, ground-floor commercial space, and a 40-car garage.
Mesa Design Architects is designing the building, which is to be clad in concrete, terra cotta, and glass. At its rooftop, a "healing garden" is to be provided for use by patients and visitors.
At the time of its groundbreaking, completion of the hospital was on track to occur in Spring 2026.

Another significant investment in healthcare - UCLA's new neuropsychiatric hospital - is also underway just east at the former site of Olympia Medical Center at 5900 Olympic Boulevard.
