Last month, architecture firm MVE + Partners and engineering firm Glotman Simpson granted Urbanize and architectural photographer Hunter Kerhart a tour of 755 Spring, one of two mixed-use towers now rising at the intersection of 8th and Spring Streets in Downtown Los Angeles.

The project, which replaced a longtime surface parking lot, is a 24-story structure that will feature 287 residential units and 9,000 square feet of ground-floor retail.  The design is described as a blend between old and new, with a base that draws from its historic surroundings and modern elements above.

Its sister development, a second 24-story tower located across the street at 732 Spring, will feature 300 units atop 7,500 square feet of street-fronting commercial space.  Its facade is highlighted by a weave pattern that is intended as a tribute to the surrounding Fashion District.

Both towers - expected to open in 2018 - are being developed by a Holland Partner Group, a real estate firm based out of Vancouver, Washington.
