Lendlease and Aware Super are preparing to open Habitat LA, the latest mixed-use development to rise next to Metro's La Cienega/Jefferson Station in Baldwin Hills. In advance, the joint venture partners have granted Urbanize and photographer Hunter Kerhart a glimpse inside of mixed-use complex.
Located at 3401 S. La Cienega Boulevard, the project replaced a storage facility with a mix of housing and offices above ground-floor commercial space. Shop Architects designed Habitat, its first Los Angeles-are project, and is joined by a design team which includes Steinberg Hart, interior design firm A+I, and landscape architecture firm Relm.
The Habitat Residences, located on the western portion of the site, consists of a 12-story building that will contain 260 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments ranging from 450 to 1,400 square feet in size. Kelly Wearstler is the interior designer for the property, which includes floor-to-ceiling windows, and balconies or terraces on most units. Finishes include a mix of wood, stone, and tile.
The housing component of the project is accompanied by an amenity deck with a pool and dining areas, as well as a fitness center, coworking space, a social lounge, and a rooftop terrace. Additionally, the property will feature one acre of common open space accessible to the public.
To the east, the complex includes a six-story, 253,000-square-foot office building will also include 2,900 square feet of ground-floor commercial space.
The housing component of the project is set to open for its first residents in May, per a representative of the development team.
