In this week's edition of Throwback Thursday, photographer Hunter Kerhart takes in the western vantage point from the Atelier DTLA apartment tower at 8th and Olive Streets.
The first image, taken in November 2016, shows the 36-story Circa towers at their halfway point, with Oceanwide Plaza just protruding above ground-level. At the right side of the image, glass had yet to make its way up the second residential tower of Metropolis.
The biggest change in the second photo, taken in November 2017, is the 34-story Grand Hope Lofts, which now soars above the intersection of 9th and Hope Streets. Just behind that, Holland Partner Group's 28-story tower at 9th and Figueroa is also midway through its vertical climb. At the left hand of the image, cranes for 1212 Flower and 1133 Hope signal the next wave of Downtown high-rise developments.
