A trio of new affordable housing developments are in the works for Echo Park, according to new plans revealed by Kevin Tsai Architecture.
Visionary Development, helmed by former professional basketball player Terry Harris, is behind all three of the projects. The proposed developments - planned by Harris with his brother, NBA player Tobias Harris - would replace small residential and commercial buildings with structures containing more than 270 homes using the Mayor's Executive Directive 1.
333 Douglas Street
The first project, planned a short walk of Temple Street at 333 Douglas Street, would replace a single-family home with a six-story building featuring 33 apartments for low- and middle-income households.
Majid Nadel is serving as the project's executive architect.
1230 Sunset Boulevard
North of the 101 Freeway, Visionary is planning a larger seven-story building which would feature 79 residential units above ground-floor commercial space.
Warren Techentin Architecture is serving as executive architect for the project, which would sit across the street from a larger mixed-use apartment complex planned for a site at Sunset Boulevard and Everett Street.
1540 Court Street
The largest of the three projects, proposed at 1540 Court Street, would be a seven-story edifice featuring 165 apartments for low- and middle-income households.
JZA Architecture is designing the proposed project, which sits across the street from the Bond Companies' Inspire Echo Park complex.
