Architectural plans posted by the Wilshire Center/Koreatown Neighborhood Council provide a first look at Jamison Services, Inc.'s plans to redevelop a property behind the Central Plaza office complex with a pair of apartment towers.
The project site, located at the northwest corner of 7th Street and Mariposa Avenue, is currently improved with a three-level parking structure which serves the adjacent office buildings. Jamison Services proposes to raze the garage to make way for the construction of a pair of high-rise towers featuring 641 apartments.
CallisonRTKL is designing the proposed development, which would include a 28-story, 332-foot building fronting 7th Street and a 23-story, 282-foot building fronting Mariposa Avenue. Architectural diagrams show that both towers would sit atop a four-story podium and two basement levels, offering 1,922 parking spaces for use by residents and tenants of the adjacent office buildings.
Plans also call for converting a portion of an existing driveway to the north of the garage into a paseo lined with retail. Shops and restaurants would bookend both ends of the paseo - which would connect Irolo Street with Mariposa Avenue - and also line the ground-floor of the podium.
Jamison is also planning a similar multi-tower development which would replace a parking garage two blocks east.
