A block north of the Water Garden office complex in Santa Monica, the frames of two mixed-use apartment buildings are beginning to take shape.

The projects, located at the northwest corner of Broadway and Cloverfield Avenue, are both being built by Century City-based LaTerra Development.  The three-story buildings will contain a combined total of 49 studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments - with five reserved as deed-restricted affordable housing - above roughly 2,700 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and basement parking for 128 vehicles.

Tighe Architecture is designing contemporary low-rise structures, which will both be adorned with perforated panels arranged into sculpted forms.  Amenity decks will activate the roof levels of both buildings.

At the time that LaTerra broke ground on the apartment buildings in mid-2019, completion was expected by the third quarter of 2020.  Per a representative of the developer, work is now expected to conclude in the third quarter of 2021.

Elsewhere in Santa Monica, LaTerra is in the midst of construction at a similar mixed-use project at the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Yale Avenue.  The company's other projects include housing developments in Downtown, Burbank, West Hollywood, Mar Vista, and Los Feliz.
