Two mixed-use developments are climbing near the corner of Variel Avenue and Oxnard Street in Warner Center.
In the foreground of the above image, Beijing-based developer BCEGI International Company excavating the underground garage for a seven-story building that will feature 263 rental apartments and 484 parking spaces.
The $75-million project, which is being designed by VTBS Architects, is scheduled for completion in 2019.
In the background, developer Fairfield Residential has assembled the wooden framework of a similar $70-million development at 21221 Oxnard Street. The project will feature 379 apartments in a five-story building designed by Architects Orange.
Both buildings are considered the first phases of two-part developments that will also feature office space.
BCEGI has proposed a 12-story, 66,000-square-foot office tower, while the Fairfield project is entitled for a seven-story, 70,000-square-foot building.
