Nearly three years after demolition kicked off at the dilapidated University Village shopping mall, USC is nearing the finish line for its $700-million replacement.
The USC Village, which spans across 15 acres at Jefferson Boulevard and Hoover Street, creates new academic facilities, housing for 2,700 students and approximately 115,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space. The buildings are interspersed with wide public paseos, as well as new green space for students and passersby.
Architecture firm Harley Ellis Devereaux designed the mixed-use project in the Neo Gothic style, with USC's signature red brick.
According to an article from BCD Network, the Village is on track to open in this Fall. It will reportedly feature ground-floor tenants such as Trader Joe's and CVS Pharmacy.
Later phases of the project could develop blocks located west along Jefferson Boulevard.
