This afternoon, the Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust will celebrate the opening of the Vermont Miracle Park, a new public green space in South Los Angeles.
The 10,500-square-foot pocket park, located at the intersection of 81st Street and Vermont Avenue, repurposes the site of a building that was destroyed during the Civil Unrest of 1992. The property was left fallow until earlier this year, when it was improved with new landscaping, decorative fencing and children's play structures.
Hongjoo Kim Landscape Architects, which took shape over five years of design and construction.
Vermont Miracle Park was funded by Proposition 84, and was promoted as part of former Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's 50 Parks Plan.
