After a half-year of rumors, it's official: Facebook is expanding its office presence in Playa Vista.
Last week, The Commercial Observer reported that the Menlo Park-based social media giant was in talks with Tishman Speyer to lease 260,000 square feet of space at The Brickyard, its latest development at 12099 and 12126 W. Waterfront Drive. The two-building complex, designed by Michael Maltzan, offers 430,000 square feet of office space, as well as ground-floor retail and a parking garage.
Facebook, which will continue to maintain a separate office at the nearby Playa Jefferson complex, will join Loyola Marymount University at The Brickyard. The school leases 50,000 square feet from Tishman Speyer for a satellite campus in Playa Vista.
The Brickyard is located across the street from the historic Spruce Goose Hangar, in which Google recently completed its own Playa Vista offices.
Tishman Speyer has built a number of the trophy office properties in the neighborhood, including a neighboring campus that has been leased to Yahoo and the Annenberg Foundation.
Medical apparel maker Figs, Inc. will relocate its corporate headquarters from West Los Angeles to the newly-completed Santa Monica Gateway development at 2834 Colorado Avenue.
The move, which was reported by the L.A. Business Journal, will place Figs into a roughly 26,000-square-foot space for a 10-year period. The company is expected to relocate during the third quarter of this year.
Goop, Inc., the lifestyle brand founded by actress Gwyneth Paltrow, also calls the property home.
