On October 19, LAUSD is hosting an architecture, engineering, and construction careers event next to Sunrise Elementary School in Boyle Heights from 9 am to 1 pm. The event is intended as an opportunity to network, recruit talent, and expose young people to careers in the architecture, construction, and engineering field. On October 8 and 9, Metro will hold three meetings to to discuss the Vermont Transit Corridor Project, which is set to upgrade bus service along Vermont Avenue from Los Feliz in the north to Athens in the south. Items on the agenda will be near-term bus service improvements set to arrive in 2025, and bus rapid transit service set to follow by 2028.

State attorney general wants L.A. to redraw council districts, confidential document says "The draft legal document prepared by Bonta’s office, a copy of which was reviewed by The Times, would require the city to finalize new council district maps in time for the 2026 primary election. Council members would be barred from considering their own political fortunes when approving those maps, the confidential document said." (LA Times)

California Governor Signs AB 761 to Revamp Enhanced Infrastructure Financing Districts "The City of West Hollywood applauds California Governor Gavin Newsom for signing AB 761 by Assemblymember Laura Friedman (D-44th District) – Local Finance: Enhanced Infrastructure Financing Districts – which extends the life of Enhanced Financing Infrastructure Districts (EIFDs) to 75 years from the current maximum term of 45 years. This extended period aligns with the repayment terms of federal Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (TIFIA) loans. Such loans can serve as a vital source of capital to fund the local portion of the Metro K Line Extension to accelerate construction and bring Metro rail service to West Hollywood sooner than the originally projected date of 2041."
