A stretch of vacant commercial buildings in West Los Angeles has been fenced off, signaling the impending start of construction for another mixed-use development by the Amaroso Companies.
In June 2015, the Calabasas-based developer filed plans with the City of Los Angeles to construct a five-story apartment complex at 11916 Pico Boulevard, just a few blocks south of Metro's Expo/Bundy Station. The proposed building would feature 100 residential units - including studios, live/work lofts, one- and two-bedroom units - above nearly 2,900 square feet of ground-floor commercial space.
Santa Monica-based Killefer Flammang Architects is designing the podium-type building, which is depicted as a contemporary structure highlighted by a glass tower element at its main pedestrian entry point.
The project, which elevation plans name as Amoroso on Pico, will be constructed over approximately 18 months.
Amoroso previously developed a similar apartment building several blocks west along Pico.
Exterior finishes are now falling into place at a similar development near Pico and Barrington Avenue.
