Six months after breaking ground near the intersection of Imperial Highway and Western Avenue, the wood frame of a new affordable housing development from Abode Communities is largely complete.
The project, called Westmont Vistas, will consist of 39 residential units reserved for families and transition age youth. Plans also call for a central courtyard, a computer center, and a tot lot.
A June 2018 staff report to the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee indicates that the Westmont Vistas development will cater to households earning at or below 30 and 60 percent of the area median income. The mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom dwellings will offer rents between $507 and $0703 per month.
The approximately $21.6-million project is on pace for completion in 2020, according to the Abode Communities website.
Other affordable and supportive housing developments from Abode Communities include the recently-completed Rolland Curtis Gardens in Exposition Park and a proposed 100-unit housing complex near MacArthur Park.
