With completion imminent for Broadway Palace, it appears that developer Geoff Palmer is now returning to form, with work quietly getting underway for a massive apartment complex near the Harbor Freeway in City West.
Ferrante, the controversial developer's largest project yet, would span across a nearly 10-acre site at 1000 W. Temple Street, replacing a 10-story office building and data center. Plans call for a meandering array of seven-story buildings, containing approximately 1,500 apartments, 30,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space and parking for over 2,600 vehicles.
The project is the latest in Palmer's "Renaissance Collection," which consists of similar apartment complexes strewn about the west side of Downtown Los Angeles - familiar landmarks to commuters on the Harbor Freeway. The most recently-completed development - the Da Vinci - was delayed in late 2014, when one of its two partially-complete buildings was destroyed in an immense fire that lit of the night sky.
A tipster notes that the Ferrante property is now fenced off, with heavy equipment now on-site. Demolition permits were issued for the existing buildings in December 2017.
