Jamison Services, Inc., Koreatown's largest landowner, is beginning work on the first of its three proposed developments that will add residential units above an existing parking garage.

The three-story structure, located at 685 S. Catalina Avenue, will be capped with four levels of wood-frame construction, creating a total of 122 residential units.

Renderings of the finished product are not currently available due to a recent design chance, although a representative of Jamison Services stated that the company had commissioned local architect David Forbes Hibbert for the project.

In a separate but related development, Jamison is also transforming an adjacent 12-story building into 216 loft-style apartments, while retaining existing ground-floor retail space.  Prominent architecture firm Welton Becket & Associates designed the mid-rise tower, which opened in 1957 as the regional headquarters of Texaco.

Jamison is also planning residential units above parking structures along Ardmore and Western Avenues.
