At a ceremony earlier this year, Los Angeles city officials formally started work on the Mid-City Greenway project, which will introduce traffic calming measures on corridors spanning the Beverly Grove, Fairfax, Hancock Park, and Hollywood neighborhoods.
The project, announced by both 5th District City Councilmember Katy Yaroslavsky and LADOT, will include impact four miles of residential streets, including Rosewood Avenue, Formosa Avenue, and Orange Drive. Proposed improvements include new or upgraded traffic signals, curb extensions, traffic circles, crosswalk improvements, diverters, and bicycle infrastructure. The intended goal of said improvements is to reduce cut-through traffic in neighborhoods and reduce vehicle speeds.
Streetsblog reports that project construction will be managed by the Bureau of Engineering, while LADOT was responsible for securing grant finding, community outreach, and project design.
Some elements of the project are already in place, including a traffic circle at the intersection of Rosewood and Martel Avenues.
Streetsblog notes that the project will connect with the city of West Hollywood's already traffic-calmed stretch of Rosewood.
Completion of the Mid-City Greenway project is expected in Fall 2026.
