Enterprise, entertainment and an exciting new dining options have been key components to the successful revival of downtown Los Angeles (DTLA). Angelenos who reside in, commute to or simply enjoy hanging out in the heart of the city move to the rhythm of “Eat. Play. Work.” The City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks (RAP) has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) from qualified business entities to be a part of this dynamic environment and develop, operate and maintain food and beverage concessions at the new, state of the art, First and Broadway Park (FAB Park), currently in design. Proposals are due March 22, 2018. Register for free at labavn.org to download the RFP documents.
FAB Park will occupy approximately two acres located at 217 W. 1st Street and is located in the Los Angeles Civic Center, directly across the street from Los Angeles City Hall and Grand Park. A prime location with amenable public transportation options, it will be within walking distance from the Music Center, Disney Concert Hall, the Broad and the Museum of Contemporary Art. The objective of this RFP is to award a ten year agreement, with one five-year extension to an operator who will provide a vibrant, sophisticated dining experience with opportunities to host special events and a fair and respectful employment environment.
This innovative and iconic park project will incorporate uses that bring vibrancy to the area, including a two-story restaurant complex with spaces that include a rooftop bar/lounge, full-service restaurant, street-level café, and a beer garden. Design of the park is being led by Mia Lehrer + Associates (MLA) and the design of the restaurant building is led by the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA). FAB Park and the restaurant building are estimated to begin construction in 2019. With civic service, trade, entertainment, fashion, tourism and hospitality comprising the rapid beat of progress, this opportunity for revitalization and partnership between local government and entrepreneurs brings new excitement to this vibrant urban community.
