In Venice, the small commercial building that until recently housed the non-profit organization Safe Place for Youth has been razed to clear the way for a new development of permanent supportive housing.

The property, located at 2467-2471 Lincoln Boulevard, was entitled in September 2020 by Venice Community Housing Corp. for the construction of a new four-story edifice featuring 90 studio apartments, as well as a 10-car garage and on-site supportive services.

Long Beach-based architecture firm Studio One Eleven is designing the building, which will include a mix of studio, one-, and two-bedroom dwellings. The project will also include a new plaza along Lincoln Boulevard, as well as private yards and an interior courtyard for use by residents.

The mixed-use building, called "The Journey," has an estimated budget of $28.6 million, per a Housing Department staff report. Funding for the project comes from multiple sources, including Measure HHH.
