A new multifamily residential development is set to replace a single-story commercial building near the intersection of 7th Street and Pine Avenue in Downtown Long Beach.

The proposed project, which comes from Hermosa Beach-based Beach City Capital, would rise from a site at 711 Pine Avenue in the Downtown Plan area's Planned Development District. Plans call for the construction of a seven-story, 78-foot-tall building featuring 24 apartments above a stacked parking garage and a lobby at the ground floor.

Per a landing page on the Beach City Capital website, 711 Pine is planned as a co-living apartment complex, and is expected to commence construction sometime in 2023.

The new development sits directly north of Holland Partner Group's Volta on Pine apartments, a two-building, 271-unit apartment complex which made its debut in 2021. Likewise, one block north a 10-story assisted living housing project is set to replace a parking lot at Pine and 8th Street.

The proposed  project is one of two which Beach City Capital has planned for Downtown Long Beach, following a larger 69-unit development with ground floor retail which was recently approved for a site a few blocks north at Pine Avenue and 10th Street.
