Just over three months after starting work, wood framing is rapidly taking shape at the site of a new small-scale apartment buildings in Gardena.
Cocoon, the local real estate firm behind the project, has already taken wood framing to the third and final floor at the previously vacant site at 13919 S. Normandie Avenue. The project, named Cocoon 20, will feature 20 apartments - all in studio layouts.
DE Architects is designing the apartment complex, which will have a contemporary look and an exterior of white stucco with blue accents.
Pre-leasing for the apartments is slated to begin in Fall 2023, according to the developer's website.
The project is one of three new Cocoon developments in the works for the Gardena community, setting the table for a larger 121-unit development on Western Avenue, and and a future 97-unit development planned just south of El Segundo Boulevard.
The first Cocoon project in Gardena, which made its debut last year, is a 63-unit development located at 16819 S. Normandie Avenue.
Cocoon's apartment building sits one block north of Azalea Walk, a new for-sale housing complex from Olson Homes, and three blocks north of Rosecrans Avenue.
