An empty lot at the intersection of Fountain and Cherokee Avenues in Hollywood is up for redevelopment with affordable housing, according to JZA Architecture.
The project, slated for the northwest corner of the intersection, calls for the construction of a new five-story building which would feature 53 apartments on its upper floors.

Proposed entitlements make use of the procedures created through the Mayor's Executive Directive 1, as well as density bonus incentives. The site was previously slated for a smaller four-story, 18-unit apartment complex.
JZA's design for the complex is described as blending Spanish Revival elements with modern style, owing in part to its location within the De Longpre Park Residential Historic District. Plans call for a stained wood trim, as well as large windows which will permit natural light and ground floor planters.

Property records list the owners of the site at the entities 1301 Cherokee, LLC and 1307 Cherokee, LLC, both of which are linked to Uncommon, a Chatsworth-based development firm which is also working with JZA on a mixed-use project slated for Beverly Boulevard in the Fairfax district. The land sold for a combined sum up just over $1.95 million through two separate transactions in 2017, according to city records.
