Tesla's stock price may be having a rough go of it lately, but work continues nonetheless for a novel project for the electric vehicle giant at 7001 W. Santa Monica Boulevard in Hollywood: a charging station which features a drive-in theater and a diner on the same property.
The project, which replaced a Shakey's restaurant, will feature charging equipment for 30 vehicles at completion. However, the visual centerpiece of the project is the two-story diner, designed by Stantec, which will provide outdoor eating space on the rooftop and counter-style seating at ground level.
What one might be able to eat at the retro-style diner remains to be seen.
According to building permits, the drive-in theater screen will be located along the western perimeter of the site, allowing for the projection of films and images.
The new diner is reportedly a prototype for what could be a new form of deluxe Tesla charging stations which, if successful, would be rolled out in other cities across the country.
