After five years of quiet, a plan from Jamison Services, Inc. to bring a pair of apartment towers to a site just south of Wilshire Boulevard in Koreatown is once again moving forward.
On April 11, the Los Angeles City Planning Commission voted to support entitlements for the planned high-rise complex behind an existing office tower at 3600 Wilshire Boulevard. The proposed project, which would replace a parking garage on north side of 7th Street between Harvard Boulevard and Kingsley Drive, calls for the construction of two 23-story buildings featuring 760 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments with 6,359 square feet of ground-floor retail uses and parking for nearly 1,300 vehicles.
Perkins&Will is designing the buildings, which would stand nearly 269 feet in height and include shared amenities including rooftop pools, a fitness center, and other outdoor spaces.
Construction of the towers is expected to occur over a roughly two-year period, although a groundbreaking date for the project remains unclear.
The proposed development bears many similarities to another Jamison Services project a short distances to the east at 3470 Wilshire Boulevard, where another parking garage at the rear of an office tower is poised to make way for a pair of residential high-rise buildings.
Jamison has also built a pair of apartment towers along the north side of the street at 3545 Wilshire, and is now building a hotel across Harvard Boulevard from the 3600 Wilshire site.
