A pair of small residential buildings in Pico-Robertson are poised to make way for a new apartment complex, according to an application submitted recently to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.

The proposed project from applicant 1500 Wooster, LLC, slated for a corner lot located at 1500 Wooster Street, calls for the construction of a new six-story building featuring 26 two- and three-bedroom apartments above parking for 51 vehicles.

Requested entitlements include density bonus incentives allowing for a larger building than would normally be permitted by zoning rules. In exchange, four of the apartments would be set aside as very low-income affordable housing.

KFA Architecture is designing the contemporary podium-type building, which would include a rooftop deck and a landscaped open space fronting Wooster Street.

The project site sits a short distance south of the namesake intersection of the Pico-Robertson neighborhood, where construction is wrapping up for a mixed-use apartment building at 1415 Robertson Boulevard, and one block east of a proposed memory care facility at 1501 Robertson Boulevard.
