Six months after shutting its doors, the former Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles is back under a new name.

AJU Continuum, the company which owns the historic property at 929 S. Broadway, announced a partnership with Kasa Living to manage the property, which is now known as Stile Downtown Los Angeles. The property retains 182 guest rooms, as well as 5,000 square feet of meeting space, a rooftop splash pool. The 1,600-seat theater on the building's ground floor, previously known as the Theatre at the Ace Hotel, also remains as under the name "The United Theater on Broadway."

"Partnering with Kasa has introduced us to a modern, efficient approach to hotel management, seamlessly integrating with our lifestyle accommodations brand, STILE," said AJU Continuum chief executive officer Jaisun Ihm in a news release. "Kasa's proven expertise in implementing modern hospitality practices has resulted in measurable improvements to our operations and profitability. Kasa has refined traditional hotel management, enhancing profitability while delivering the perfect balance of efficiency, guest experience, and brand DNA."

The 13-story Spanish Gothic-style building, completed in 1927, was built as commercial offices housing a flagship theater for the United Artists movie studio. It later housed a church, before being converted into the now-defunct Ace Hotel in 2014.

The opening of the Ace Hotel ushered in a wave of investment in the surrounding blocks along Broadway, including the construction of the two-building Broadway Palace apartment complex across the street, and competing hotels such as the DTLA Proper and the Hoxton one block to the south. Despite that investment, the hotel (and much of the immediate surrounding area) was hit hard by the pandemic, and has yet to make a full recovery.
