Directly south of the Sixth Street Viaduct, construction is progressing for East End Capital's new Boyle Heights production campus.
East End Studios Mission, which is repurposing parts of a former cold storage facility at 2233 E. Jesse Street, will eventually five soundstages in addition to offices, and other production support facilities.
The nearly 250,000-square-foot campus has a budget of approximately $230 million, and is expected to create 750 jobs when completed later this year, East End Studios announced at the time of its groundbreaking.
East End Studios has previously developed a smaller 96,000-square-foot complex in Glendale, and has plans to step up into even more ambitious projects. Its pipeline of developments includes a proposed 406,000-square-foot campus in Glendale and a more than 700,000-square-foot development in the Arts District. The company's portfolio is eventually expected to include five properties with 38 total soundstages.
The Mission campus is one of two large construction projects now taking shape along the east bank of the Los Angeles River in Boyle Heights, joining new park space below the Sixth Street Viaduct.
