The transformation of the blocks to the south of Metro's Expo/Bundy Station continue, with a recent approval letter issued by the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.
Last month, the Planning Department issued a determination letter authorizing Peter Hillakas of 2328 Amherst Ave, LLC to redevelop four single-family homes at 2318-2332 S. Amherst Avenue with a new multifamily residential building. Plans call for the construction of an eight-story building featuring 114 one-,t wo-, and three-bedroom apartments with parking for 113 vehicles.
Project entitlements include Transit Oriented Communities incentives, authorizing the construction of a larger building than zoning rules would normally permit due to proximity to the nearby Metro stop and the inclusion of 13 units of extremely low-income affordable housing.
KFA Architecture is designing the contemporary podium-type building, according to plans included with the project filing.
The proposed project is the latest in a string of large developments to reshape the formerly single-family zoned neighborhood between the Metro stop and Olympic Boulevard to either side of Bundy Drive. Carmel Partners has proposed more than 600 homes in three developments on neighboring properties to the north, while a series of Executive Directive 1 affordable housing developments have been pitched for sites along Amherst.
