Just east of La Brea Avenue in Hollywood, Tesla's first combination charging station, restaurant, and drive-in theater has made its debut.

The retro futuristic building, which opened yesterday at 7001 W. Santa Monica Boulevard, replaced a former Shakey's restaurant with a new restaurant with rooftop dining, surrounding by charging infrastructures for 30 vehicles in a main lot, and additional equipment in a satellite lot to the west.

Stantec designed the diner, which fronts the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Orange Drive, and includes rooftop dining space and  counter-style seating at ground level. The building features decorative lighting at night.

The drive-in theater screens are located along the western and northern perimeter of the site, allowing for the projection of films and images.

The new diner is reportedly a prototype for what could be a new form of deluxe Tesla charging stations which, if successful, would be rolled out in other cities across the country. The Los Angeles Times reports that Eric Greenspan will run the restaurant.
