A shuttered Italian restaurant near the intersection of Bundy Drive and Santa Monica Boulevard in Sawtelle is slated to give way to a new affordable housing complex from Los Angeles-based developer Passo, per a project representative.

The proposed Executive Directive 1 development, slated for a corner lot at 1520 Saltair Avenue, calls for razing the existing restaurant building and attached parking lot to clear the way for the construction of a new seven-story building containing 162 studio and one-bedroom apartments without on-site parking.

Plans call for a fully affordable housing development catering to low- and moderate-income renters, making the project eligible for development bonuses through the City's Affordable Housing Incentive Program. Plans call for increased height and density, as well as a decrease to required automobile parking.

Aero Collective is designing the building, which would include a central courtyard and a rooftop amenity deck.

Passo is developing at least three other ED1 affordable housing projects in Sawtelle, including projects on Barrington and Stoner Avenues.
