The steel frame of Hollywood Burbank Airport's $1.3-billion replacement terminal continues to take shape.

The project, which broke ground in early 2024, is located at the northeast section of the airport, near Metrolink's Burbank Airport North stop on the Antelope Valley Line. The new 355,000-square-foot building is to include 14 passenger gates, shops, restaurants, a ticketing lobby, a new TSA checkpoint, and a new baggage claim area.

Hollywood Burbank's existing terminal, completed in 1920s, sits at the south of the airport property - adjacent to the Burbank Airport South station on Metrolink's Ventura County Line. The placement of the new terminal, in addition to modern amenities, will provide greater distance from airport runways. However, plans still call for stair access to planes in lieu of jet bridges (at the request of airport stakeholders).

The replacement terminal's design-build team includes Corgan, Holder, Pankow, TEC, CannonDesign, and Burns & McDonnell. The new structure features a swooping roof canopy that will extend into facade of the airport's parking structure. The design has been described as evoking a silver screen in a public plaza, and has many hallmarks of Mid-Century Modern architecture seen throughout Los Angeles County.

Completion of the new terminal is expected by late 2026 - not long after LAX is scheduled to open its new Midfield Satellite Concourse South.
