A commercial building just north of Sherman Way in Canoga Park is slated to give way to affordable housing, according to a new application to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.

The property, located at 7220 N. Owensmouth Avenue, calls for razing the existing multi-tenant property to clear the way for the construction of a new seven-story edifice featuring 70 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments with a two-level, 92-car parking garage.

Plans call for a mix of low- and moderate-income housing within the property, making the project eligible for both Executive Directive 1 streamlining and density bonus incentives.

KSK Design, Inc. is serving as project architect and representative. A rendering depicts 7220 Owensmouth as a contemporary podium-type building.

City records list the applicant attached to the project as Matt Towfighian of Warner Mega Properties, LLC.

A similar 80-unit affordable housing complex was recently completed two blocks to the south on Owensmouth, and additional moderate-income developments are now taking shape on Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Canoga Avenue.
