Across the street from the Westwood Recreation Center wood framing has reached its peak for a new multifamily residential development from Century City-based investor Brennen Hakimian.

Located on a corner at 1402 S. Veteran Avenue, the project consists of a six-story building which will feature 23 one-, two-, four-, five-, and six-bedroom apartments atop a two-level, 21-car subterranean parking garage.

The project was entitled using Transit Oriented Communities development incentives to permit a larger structure than allowed by zoning. In exchange, three of the apartments would be set aside as affordable housing at extremely low-income level. 

Warren Techentin Architecture, which would have an exterior of smooth-finish stucco, concrete, and perforated metal screens. Plans call for a rear patio and a rooftop deck.

Hakimian and Techentin are also working on an 18-unit apartment complex now under construction one block south, and have plans for a larger 47-unit complex on the opposite side of the street.
