Renderings revealed for proposed apartments at 7914 Broadway Ave. in West Whittier

A report to the Los Angeles County Regional Planning Commission offers a look at a proposed multifamily residential development in the unincorporated community of West Whittier-Los Nietos.

The project from applicant Marisela Garcia, slated for a property just north of Washington Boulevard at 7914 Broadway Avenue, calls for the construction of a new five-story, 60-unit apartment complex. The apartments would come in a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom floor plans .

Construction of the new apartment building would require the approval of a zone change as well as adding density bonus incentives. In exchange, seven apartments are to be set aside for rent as deed-restricted affordable housing at the very low-income level.

Design Plus Services is designing 7914 Broadway, which is portrayed in renderings as a contemporary podium-type building.

The proposed development would rise near the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Norwalk Boulevard, where a stop is planned on a future extension of the E Line from East Los Angeles. It also sits just north of the City of Santa Fe Springs, where another housing development is in the works on Broadway.
