A year-and-a-half since we last stopped by, the glass exterior of the new Cedars-Sinai Marina Del Rey Hospital has been unwrapped.
Located at 4640-4660 Lincoln Boulevard, the nine-story tower is being built to replace the existing 1970s era hospital, which remains in operation just to the east. The new construction replaces what was once a hospital parking lot and an adjacent medical office building.
The glass-and-steel building is being designed by HDR, Inc., and rises approximately 190 feet in height. When it opens, the new tower is expected to have capacity for 96 patient beds, with a later expansion to upwards of 160 beds. Plans also call for new operating rooms, cardiac catheterization and gastroenterology labs, interventional procedure suites, and an expanded emergency department.
Completion of the new building was most recently expected to occur 2026, according to a 2024 project update from Cedars-Sinai.
Cedars-Sinai is rebuilding the Marina Del Rey Hospital due to a state law which requires the retrofit or replacement of acute care facilities prior to the year 2030. For that reason, the hospital is also planning to expand and upgrade its main campus in Beverly Grove.
