Just west of the 405 Freeway in Sawtelle, construction is underway for a new affordable housing development entitled using the Mayor's Executive Directive 1.
The project from Babak Nehoray of Sawtelle 2481, LLC, located at 2481 S. Sawtelle Boulevard, will consist of a six-story building 42 one- and two-bedroom apartments above parking for eight vehicles when completed.
Project approvals include density bonus incentives to permit a larger building than allowed by zoning rules. In exchange, the proposed apartments would be set aside for low- and moderate-income households.
Mika Design Group is the podium-type apartment complex.
The project, located just west of Expo/Sepulveda Station, is one of several ED1 developments in the works near Metro stops in Sawtelle. Work is also underway for a project featuring 38 low- and moderate-income apartments near Expo/Bundy Station.
