In Silver Lake, a mixed-use apartment complex is taking shape on a corner lot just off of Glendale Boulevard.

The project, approved by the City Planning Commission in 2019, is located at 2711 Rowena Avenue and 2801 Rokeby Street. The five-story structure will feature 39 one- and two-bedroom apartments - including four very low-income affordable units - above 1,887 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and a 38-car garage, according to approved plans.

Planning Commission approved was required for density bonus incentives requested by the original applicant.

Nest Architecture is designing the building, which is portrayed in plans as a contemporary podium-type building with private decks on upper floors and inset balconies on lower levels.

City records indicate that the site sold in 2023 to the entity Rowena 39, LLC, an entity located out of the same address as the building firm Quadrant, Inc.

Quadrant previously was attached to a small infill project along Hyperion Avenue elsewhere in Silver Lake.
