A surface parking lot in Pico-Robertson could make way for affordable housing under plans recently filed with the City of Los Angeles.

The project from applicant Farzad Nourollah, slated for a corner lot at 8688 W. Pico Boulevard, calls for the construction of a new seven-story building featuring 55 apartments for low- and moderate-income households above parking for 27 vehicles.

As a fully-affordable housing project, the proposal requests multiple incentives to permit a larger building than otherwise allowed by zoning rules.

Renderings depict a contemporary podium-type building with an exterior of corrugated metal and painted stucco. Los Angeles-based Beverly Design is designing the building, while LMM Studio is listed as the project architect in its application.

The project site is located a few blocks east of a senior housing development recently built by Mercy Housing California.

Nourollah is also attached to plans for a mixed-use building in the Baldwin Hills neighborhood.
