Affordable housing is coming to an empty lot located northeast of the US-101 Freeway in Hollywood, according to a new application to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.

The project, which would rise at 1833 N. Wilton Place, comes from applicant and property owner Benjamin Jian Hao Zhu. Plans call for the construction of a five-story building featuring 48 apartments, mostly in studio and one-bedroom layouts, without on-site parking.

Requested entitlements including development incentives through the Citywide Housing Incentive Program. The project would serve a mix of low- and moderate-income renters.

Kevin Tsai Architecture is designing the proposed development, which is portrayed in a rendering as a contemporary wood-frame building clad in painted stucco.

The project site is located one block to the east of an empty lot along Taft Avenue, where plans were recently submitted to the City of Los Angeles to build a 33-unit mixed-income development.
