A single-family home located one block south of Pico Boulevard in Harvard Heights is slated to give way to a new affordable housing complex, per plans submitted recently to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.

The proposed project, which comes from applicant Brian Abghari of Wilton South County Place, LLC, would rise from a site at 1504 S. Wilton Place. Plans call for the construction of a new seven-story building featuring 63 moderate- and low-income housing units with parking for 38 vehicles.

The project would utilize the citywide housing incentives to permit a larger building than otherwise allowed by zoning rules.

Corbel Architects is designing the building, while Savage Land Design is serving as landscape architects. A rendering depicts the building as a contemporary podium-type structure.

The project site is located not far from the intersection of Pico Boulevard and Western Avenue, where a larger, predominantly market-rate development is in the works.
