Abode Communities has completed work on a new affordable housing complex in South Los Angeles, Morley Builders recently announced via social media.

The project, known as The Carlton, occupies a corner lot at 5407 S. Western Avenue. The new four-story building includes 60 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments.

The 51,000-square-foot building serves transitional‑age youth experiencing homelessness and low‑income families, according to the social media post.

Abode Communities financed the project using a combination of low-income housing tax credits with state and local sources.

The finished product is largely similar to conceptual renderings produced prior to the start of construction, with different color accents.

Abode announced the groundbreaking of the Carlton simultaneously with that of a similar affordable housing complex now rising at 8909 S. Central Avenue. The developer is also working on housing projects in Westlake.
