An auto repair shop in Arlington Heights is slated to give way to a mixed-use affordable housing development, according to an application filed with the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.
The proposed project from 3521 MSB Capital, LLC, which would rise from a corner lot at 3521 W. Washington Boulevard, calls for the construction of a seven-story building featuring 146 one-bedroom apartments above approximately 862 square feet of ground-floor commercial space.
All of the apartments are to be reserved for moderate- and low-income households, according to findings included with the application.
KFA Architecture is designing the project, which is named Washington Gardens. A rendering depicts the project with Mid-Century Modern elements on its exterior.
The project follows on the heels of another affordable housing development recently built at 3300 Washington Boulevard. A mixed-income development is also under construction a few blocks to the west along Washington.
