A series of small residential buildings located just south of Pico Boulevard in Mid-City are set to give way to affordable housing, per a recent application to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.

The property, located at 1418 S. Mansfield Avenue, calls for the construction of a five-story building featuring 81 one- and two-bedroom apartments without on-site parking.

All of the apartments would be reserved for low- and moderate-income households, according to plans included with the filing.

JZA Architecture is designing the project, which is depicted in a rendering as a contemporary podium-type building.

The project applicant is an entity affiliated with Elat Properties.

The site sits just southwest of a property at 5050 Pico Boulevard which was recently purchased and converted to income-restricted housing.
