A pair of single-family homes near Lake Station and the 210 Freeway in Pasadena are set to give way to housing.

The proposal from project developer TJ Unity, LLC, slated for a site at 1045-1055 Locust Street, calls for the construction of a four-story development featuring 40 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments with subterranean parking for 60 vehicles. In addition, plans show 10 amenity spaces which could be converted to additional apartments pursuant to state law regarding accessory dwelling units within multifamily residential buildings.

In exchange for density bonus incentives granting waivers from certain development regulations, the project would provide six units of very low- and moderate-income housing.

Tag Design Works is the architect for the project, which is depicted in plans as a contemporary low-rise complex clad in painted plaster.

The project is being presented to the Design Commission for a preliminary presentation, and a final vote is not scheduled at this point in time.

New housing on Locust Street would follow several other projects slated for sites near Lake Station, including condominiums at 83 N. Lake Avenue and a mixed-use housing complex at 490 N. Lake Avenue.
