A vacant lot just south of Firestone Boulevard in the City of South Gate is set to be redeveloped with affordable, for-sale housing, according to a new environmental study.
The property, located at 9019 Long Beach Boulevard, is being redeveloped by Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles with 14 three-story townhomes ranging from 1,000 to 1,372 square feet in size. Each would include a two-car garage at the ground floor.
Required approvals by the City of South Gate will include an environmental clearance, as well as modifications to certain zoning rules to permit reductions to setbacks and taller perimeter fences.
Pending approvals, construction is set to commence as early as Summer 2027 and be completed by April 2029. After approval, all of the homes are to be sold to qualifying low-income buyers, per the study.
Habitat for Humanity is also developing new for-sale housing at sites along 14th Street in Long Beach.
