An office complex north of the SR-60 Freeway in Monterey Park is slated to give way to new housing, according to plans recently approved by the City Council.
The Potrero Grande and Atlas development, named for its two main cross streets, would replace an office complex located at 601 Potrero Grande Drive and 2100 Saturn Street. Plans call for 159 residential units in a mix of two-, three-, and four-bedroom floor plans.
Requested approvals include density bonus incentives to permit a larger project than otherwise allowed by zoning rules. In exchange, eight units are to be set aside for very low-income households. An additional eight units are to serve as live/work housing.
KTGY is designing the project, which would consist of contemporary three-story structures arranged around a network of private walkways and driveways.
Olson Homes is developing a number of similar projects across Los Angeles County, including another housing complex with KTGY in San Gabriel.
